A 3 1/2 ft tall India soapstone sculpture that I just had to light on fire.

A few anecdotes about this sculpture (sans flames). . .

I created this sculpture for a thematic art show called "IMPURE". I was asked to make and submit sexually suggestive works. This is what I came up with. It is obvious for those who have one, and for those who admire and worship. After the show, I became known as the "vagina guy" of Edmonton... I still get called this, years after.

I was doing the finishing sanding with wet sandpaper and water at an Arts Festival. A news crew came up and filmed me sanding. The female announcer was ohhing and awwing and sensually rubbing the piece, not gettting the suggestive nature of it. I was told by those who saw the news program the camera was bouncing up and down as the cameraman was laughing so hard.

My city hosted the "Worlds Track and Field competition", sadly. We were dubbed "DEADMONTON" by a few world media sources. No suprise. But just before the event was to be held, this sculpture was on prominent display at a downtown restaurant in their front window. The "Edmonton Downtown Betterment Society" or somesuch wrote the restaraunt and demanded the removal of this "bawdy" piece as it lessens the image of Edmonton. Sadly the owners made me take it out. Censorship I say!

My brother bumped into a sculpture at our house and knocked it over onto this one, breaking this one in twain. I created 2 different pieces out of the remains. One is Aspire -----> [link] the other is Innuendo, here -----> [link]

here is a digital Manip of this photo ----> [link]

Great job! Too bad it was taken out of display, I think that's somewhat ridiculous. Would the people who would be influenced by it even know what it is? Nice job.

ALL HAIL VAGINA GUY!!!! :worship:

I don't remember seeing the explanation in the other version you posted of this--great story! Wonderful piece--too bad about the accident, but I still admire how you were able to salvage the pieces.

Was it "Luxuria" that did the song "Flaming Desire"? It's an old one--memory fails, but that could be an alternate title...

Hahahahaha. The vagina guy. That's the greatest thing ever! Be proud of your title. Be proud that you're censored. It makes you an artiste. How did you light it on fire?
'Vagina guy' :giggle: Too cool. What a shame it was broken; it's beautiful and should be on display - everywhere! How clever of you to make it into something else - excellent save! At least you have photos of it from before the mishap.

This is truly fab. I like the saves that you were able to do with the pieces! I have one piece that I broke...with my elbow (doh!) not near as exciting a composition as this one, but that's good inspiration to fix it.

There is an art festival in Seattle, Washington coming up next month you may want to know about, called the Seattle Erotic Art Festival. I submitted my three erotic pieces for jurying, (with photos,) and they didn't like them this year. That's alright, I'm still going...one of my partners has stuff that he'll be showing, and the show is a blast. Anyway, it's too late to enter art, not too late to decide to go, and maybe good to know about for next year. The website is [link], I believe.
One of my favorites. Yes.
